Hi, I'm Dakyeom Ahn, "a person who loves humans"

I am a highly motivated undergraduate human-computer interaction (HCI) researcher at Seoul National University, currently conducting researches with Dr. Hajin Lim. I started my HCI research as an intern at KAIST Interaction Lab under the guidance of Dr. Juho Kim.

Before discovering HCI, I was selected as a Korean national skeet shooter, setting three national records as a junior player. After retiring, I designed a community app to help users build running habits. However, it was also my first UX design failure, which led me to HCI and sparked my passion for solving real-world problems.

WHY HCI? I do and love HCI because it encourages me to reimagine and question everyday interactions, transforming the mundane into something extraordinary. I believe it’s essential to understand the perspectives of underrepresented groups and highlight the gaps, with the hope that digital products can benefit everyone.

Supporting mental health is my primary interest and focus of my research now on. I aim to propose design directions that reflect individual needs and contexts while offering users meaningful, long-term support, and to validate these solutions through ethical and effective evaluations.
